You are incorrect on the online tax, that is your normal sales tax made


on purchase transactions. It should absolutely be charged on online transactions as it is a retail sale, same as standing in a store and buying something. But there is no requirement for sales tax to go to road funding in any state or any federal law for that.

FYI, if you buy something online and don't get charged sales tax you are supposed to claim that on your state tax return yearly. Had a co-worker about 20 years ago that bought a bunch of furniture in NC for her VA house. Then the furn. mfg got audited and she got a big ol fat bill for the unpaid sales tax and penalty and interest.
